MARCH/APRIL 2010 UPCOMING EVENTS
Lenten Events
-
Join us each morning, Monday to Saturday in Lent for
Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament, the Rosary, the
Way of the Cross and Chaplet of Mercy offered for
Priestly Vocations - 8:00 9:00 am followed by Mass
at 9:00 am.
-
“The Way of the Cross” will be prayed after the 5:30
pm masses on Tuesday and Thursday during Lent. It
will be led by the Knights of Columbus on Tuesday
and by the Catholic Women’s League on Thursday. All
are invited to join us for these Lenten devotions.
-
Tables will be set up at the entrance to the Church
each Sunday during Lent to accept your generous
donations of food items for our food bank.
-
Scrutinies will take place on the 3rd, 4th and 5th
Sundays of Lent at the 4:30 pm mass. (March 7, 14
and 21, 2010). Our parish community joins in special
prayers called “scrutinies” which help all of us to
examine our lives and to heal all that is weak and
strengthen all that is upright, strong and good.
These prayers have special significance for those
preparing to receive the Sacrament of Baptism and
others preparing for the Sacraments of Initiation (RCIA).
We will be using the alternate “Scrutiny” readings
at all masses for those particular Sundays. These
readings are found on pages 195, page 209 and page
22 of the Sunday Missal. The Scrutiny prayers will
take place during the Saturday 4:30 pm mass on each
of these three weekends. Thank you for your support,
encouragement and prayers as our RCIA elect and
candidates prepare for the Sacraments of Initiation
at the Easter Vigil.
-
Please invite your family and friends for an hour of
inspiring music for Lent presented by CHORUS
ECCLESIAE and the SYMPOSIUM CHOIR conducted by
Lawrence Harris, MONDAY, MARCH 15, 8:00pm, here in
the church. Admission is free.
-
Penitential service will be held Thursday March 25,
